Long-Distance

Long-distance moving from San Diego

Long-distance moves from San Diego average $4,500 to $9,000 for a 2-bedroom home and $7,000 to $14,000 for a 3-bedroom, priced by weight and miles under a binding written estimate. We ship the FMCSA Your Rights and Responsibilities pamphlet with every booking and quote both Released Value and Full Value Protection up front.

What's included in this service?

  • Binding written estimates based on a free in-home or video survey
  • Long-haul interstate moves to anywhere in the lower 48
  • In-state long-haul moves (SF Bay, LA, Sacramento, Tahoe)
  • Full Value Protection or Released Value (60 cents/lb/article) declared before pickup
  • FMCSA Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move pamphlet delivered with the estimate
  • Inventory tagging, bill of lading, and high-value-item declaration on every shipment

When do you need this service?

  • You're moving more than 100 miles or crossing state lines
  • You want a price you can budget against, not an hourly meter
  • You have valuables (art, electronics, antiques) that need real protection beyond 60 cents per pound

  • You're moving from San Diego to Phoenix, Las Vegas, the SF Bay, Texas, or the East Coast

What do homeowners ask about Long-Distance?

What's the difference between a binding and non-binding estimate?

A binding estimate is a fixed price based on a survey of your inventory. If the actual weight comes in higher, you still pay the quoted price. A non-binding estimate is a guess, and you pay the actual weight at the published tariff rate, which can run 10 to 30 percent over the estimate. We default to binding because surprises at delivery are bad business. FMCSA gives you the right to either option in writing.

What's Full Value Protection versus Released Value?

Released Value is the federal default and costs nothing extra: we pay 60 cents per pound per article if something is lost or damaged. A 50-pound TV is worth $30 under Released Value, regardless of replacement cost. Full Value Protection costs roughly 1 percent of the declared value of your shipment and pays repair, replacement, or current cash value. For most households moving anything they'd actually replace, FVP is the right call.

How long does a long-distance move take?

Transit time depends on miles and how full the truck is. San Diego to Phoenix or Las Vegas runs 2 to 4 days door-to-door. SD to the SF Bay is 3 to 5 days. SD to Texas is 5 to 7 days. SD to the East Coast is 7 to 14 days. We give you a delivery window, not a single date, because federal regs require a spread on consolidated loads.

Do you handle moves into California from out of state too?

Yes. Inbound moves to San Diego are part of what we do. Same binding-estimate process, same valuation choices, same FMCSA pamphlet. If you're shipping yourself first and your goods later, we coordinate with your origin agent to schedule unload at your San Diego address.

When do I declare Full Value Protection?

Before pickup. The valuation choice is made on the order for service and signed at the bill of lading. You cannot add or upgrade FVP after the truck leaves your origin. We walk you through the math (declared value, deductible options, exclusions for items of extraordinary value over $100/lb) at the estimate appointment so the choice isn't rushed at 7 a.m. on move day.

Two-bedroom walk-up off Mission with a 6-foot back alley. They sized it right, brought a 17-foot shuttle, and finished in five hours. Final invoice came in under the binding estimate.

Apartment Moving Pacific Beach

PCS to Norfolk on a tight DPS window. They handled the on-base gate paperwork, weighed the load with us watching, and the long-distance team had it on a USDOT truck by Wednesday. Knew the reimbursement paperwork cold.

Military PCS Moving Camp Pendleton

Downsizing from a four-bedroom to a two-bedroom condo at 78. The crew sorted with us, dropped donations at AmVets on the way, and never once made us feel rushed. Worth every dollar.
