What we do

What moving services does Swift Move SD offer?

Local, long-distance, apartment, packing, piano and specialty, storage, commercial, last-minute, labor-only, senior, and military PCS moves. One crew. One company. One county we know cold.

Why San Diego picks us

Why do San Diego homeowners choose Swift Move SD?

Moving in San Diego has its own quirks. Coastal high-rises in Pacific Beach and downtown have strict elevator timing and HOA certificates of insurance. Inland tract homes in Poway and Carmel Valley have long driveways and tight cul-de-sacs. Military families at Camp Pendleton and 32nd Street need DPS-familiar crews with PCS paperwork. We know the routes, the buildings, and the rules.

  • Binding written estimates. The price you sign is the price you pay. No overtime padding when the day runs long.
  • Uniformed, background-checked crews. Golden-tan polos, real names, real training. No random day-laborers showing up at your door.
  • Cal-T and USDOT compliant. Household-goods carrier on file with the CPUC. Interstate moves run on a USDOT bill of lading with full FMCSA disclosure.
  • HOA-COI in 48 hours. Building certificate of insurance ready for La Jolla, downtown, and Pacific Beach high-rise property managers without scrambling at the last minute.

Real feedback

What movers across the county say

Two-bedroom walk-up off Mission with a 6-foot back alley. They sized it right, brought a 17-foot shuttle, and finished in five hours. Final invoice came in under the binding estimate.

Lauren K. Apartment Moving · Pacific Beach

PCS to Norfolk on a tight DPS window. They handled the on-base gate paperwork, weighed the load with us watching, and the long-distance team had it on a USDOT truck by Wednesday. Knew the reimbursement paperwork cold.

Marcus T. Military PCS Moving · Camp Pendleton

Downsizing from a four-bedroom to a two-bedroom condo at 78. The crew sorted with us, dropped donations at AmVets on the way, and never once made us feel rushed. Worth every dollar.

Diane and Robert M. Senior Moving · Rancho Bernardo

Steinway grand from Bird Rock up to a three-story walk-up. They built a custom crate, used a piano dolly with stair tracks, and the tuner who came out the next week said the soundboard was perfect.

Jenna R. Piano and Specialty Moving · La Jolla

EastLake to Otay Ranch the same week we closed. They filed the HOA COI two days ahead, reserved the elevator pad, and were done before lunch. Spanish-speaking lead made it easier on my parents.

Carlos A. Local Moving · Chula Vista

San Diego to Austin with a five-day window. Released Value vs Full Value was explained without pressure, the binding quote held, and the truck arrived in Texas on day four. Zero damaged items.

All FAQs
How much does a local move cost in San Diego?

Two-mover crews on a 26-foot truck run about $145 to $175 per hour under our Cal-T tariff, with a one-hour drive-time minimum. A studio or small one-bedroom typically lands at $550 to $850, a three-bedroom house at $1,400 to $2,400 depending on stairs, packing, and access. You get a binding written estimate before the truck rolls.

How far in advance should I book a mover?

Two to three weeks for a weekday slot, four to six weeks for the last weekend of the month, and six to eight weeks if you're moving between May and September. Same-day and next-day moves are available when crews are open, with a small last-minute surcharge.

What is a binding estimate and do you offer one?

A binding estimate is a written, fixed price for your move based on a video or in-home survey. Yes, we offer them on every job over $500. The price you sign is the price you pay, even if the move runs longer than expected. No overtime tricks at the end of the day.

Are my belongings covered if something breaks?

Every move includes Released Value Protection at 60 cents per pound per item by federal default. We also offer Full Value Protection, which replaces, repairs, or pays cash value on damaged items, for a small percentage of the declared shipment value. We hand you the FMCSA Your Rights pamphlet at booking.

Do you do packing, or do I have to pack myself?

Both. We do full-pack (we pack everything), partial-pack (kitchens and fragiles only is the most common), or labor-only loading if you've already packed. Materials are manufacturer-grade double-walled boxes, dish-pack barrels, mirror cartons, and wardrobe boxes on the truck.
