Why is same-day more expensive?

Same-day requires us to either reshuffle the day's existing schedule or pull a crew that was off the calendar. The surcharge covers the disruption: typically 15 to 25 percent above the standard hourly rate. We're upfront about the number before you book. Next-day bookings (made by 5 p.m. the day before) are usually at standard rates or with a much smaller surcharge.

Why is the crew usually 2 movers instead of 3?

On a same-day call, we're working with whoever is available that morning. 2-mover crews are easier to assemble on short notice. 3-mover crews can sometimes be arranged for late-afternoon same-day starts but the booking window is small. For 3-mover work, plan 24 to 48 hours of lead time when possible.

What should I have ready when the crew shows up?

Everything boxed (or at least gathered into rooms), beds stripped, fridge and freezer empty, and a clear path from front door to truck. Pets crated or with a friend. Parking confirmed. The same-day surcharge buys speed, not packing labor. If you also need packing, that's available but plan another 3 to 6 hours on top.

Is the same-day rate still bound by the estimate?

Yes. The not-to-exceed estimate still applies. The last-minute surcharge is a disclosed rate tier we apply when the booking window is under 24 hours, not a surprise added at the curb.
